No Rest For the Watchman, Act 4

Tanya Leshkin walks up to the counter.

Lisa looks up from her books and blinks. She smiles adn walks over, "Good morning. Might I help you?"

Tanya Leshkin nods, "Yes, Coffee, black. Thank you."

Lisa nods, she puts the drink together with practiced efficency, "Here you go. Did you find out anything that you were after?"

Indigo motions to the special board, then holds up four fingers, nodding to the server before they head off to create her order.

Tanya Leshkin shakes her head, "No." She goes to sit down and read today's paper. Her expression grows grim when she turns to page two.

Indigo smiles as her order arrives, passing over some bill. A litle smile is offered to Lisa before she turns for the door.

Indigo leaves Past Time's Coffee Shop and enters Wharf Street South.

Lisa watches Tanya thinking. Nods and smiles to Indigo. She goes over to Tanya, "Well I ran into someone who might be able to help. I think he knows quite a bit about the hero's of that time. Perhaps I can give you his number?"

Tanya Leshkin looks up, "Oh? Thank you, at this point I need any lead I can get."

Lisa smiles, "Well he comes in quite often, so I could pass on a name to him or arrange a meeting here if you wanted?

You say, "Thanks, I'd appreciate that..."

Lisa looks up as the door rings, "Oh, here he is now. Jelani."

Jelani walks in the shop smiling, then turns at the mention of his name, "Hm?"

Lisa smiles, "This is the Lady that was interested in those Heros. You said you were interested in it. I thought it would be good if you to could have a chat."

Jelani nods, "Ah yes, that probably is a good idea. Do you think I could get a cup of peppermint tea and a croissant?"

Lisa smiles, "Of course."

Tanya Leshkin waits for Jelani to take a seat.

Jelani moves towards the empty seat at Tanya's table, extending a hand, "Jelani Ambrose, miss. And you are?"

Tanya Leshkin hestitates for a moment, "Tanya Leshkin."

Tanya Leshkin shakes Jelani's hand.

Lisa brings over the order and pulls back to listen unobtrusivly.

Tanya Leshkin takes a sip of her coffee, "So you know something about Coyote, Shard or Descent?"

Jelani shrugs, "More than a little bit. I know of their careers, I'm a bit of a Colonial Bay enthusiast. I'm curious how they might tie-in with the recent sightings. Surely they must have all retired by now."

Tanya Leshkin nods, "I think I know who the Watchman is. If it is who I think it is, they might have information about his last days in Colonial Bay."

Jelani looks at Tanya, "So you think that this... apparition is something new? Or truly the spirit of the old hero?"

Tanya Leshkin sighs, "I think someone has awoken the spirit of my great-grandfather. ... I... my grandmother told me that towards the end of his life, he started to go mad. Apparently he was cursed or something, so that if he ever stopped fighting against evil, his loved ones would suffer. It was also around that time that my aunt killed herself. I think in the end he found a way to break the curse so that he could die in peace. I was hoping he may have maintained contact with Coyote, Shard or Descent and that they might know what the curse was and how to break it. I think somehow the curse has become active again, which is why he's come back. He can't ever rest if the curse isn't broken."

Jelani nods, "I... don't know what to tell you. I don't know how to find any of those heroes, or even if they're still near this area. I've been trying to get information on that citizen group the Night Watch, trying to figure out what they could be doing that would cause that spirit unrest. So you don't know what this curse is?"

Tanya Leshkin shakes her head, "Just that he can't rest and must fight evil. I don't know why he's cursed. We never found his diary after he died and the old family home on Harrisburg Lane is just a empty shell now."

Tanya Leshkin says, "I suspect that somehow the Night Watch is involved, but I don't know why they'd name themselves after an obscure 20th century hero. My great-grandfather was never one to seek fame, I've been told."

Jelani says, "Hm, I tried getting information on the group, but the residents there are fairly tight-lipped towards outsiders. If what they say is true, then the leader has your great-grandfather's diary, and used it as inspiration to form the group. As to the curse... the messages the spirit leaves behind keep mentioning 'blood on my hands'. Do you know if perhaps he did something wrong early in his life that he felt compelled to make up for?"

Tanya Leshkin shoulder's slump, "I don't know... According to my grandmother, he felt as if every crime committed, every person hurt, was somehow his responsibility, and that he had somehow failed if he didn't save them. Maybe it's the blood of those he couldn't save?"

Jelani shakes his head, "Perhaps... or perhaps not. A hero's assumed responsibility isn't exactly the same thing as a curse." He pulls out his PDA, having bookmarked all relevant stories on the Night Watch and recent sightings of the Watchman. "Besides, it's not as if the ghost is acting terribly heroic, from all appearances. He's going after members of the group that claims to pay him homage."

Tanya Leshkin nods, "I know... it doesn't make sense. He never killed as a hero, as far as I know, though I'm sure he must've during the Second World War."

Jelani says, "I wish I could find out more about that group. Perhaps your great-grandfather knows something about them that we don't, something so bad it's pulled him from beyond life to stop it."

Jelani thinks . o O (I need to consult with Victor...)

Lisa continues to listern, but lost what is happening.

Tanya Leshkin nods glumly and sips her coffee, "Maybe if I could somehow get the diary back, I could figure it out. I don't think they'll just hand it over if I ask, unfortunately. Otherwise, I don't know... maybe the messages burnt into the walls will eventually give a clue. A lot of people could die before then though..."

Jelani nods, "Unfortunate, but true."

Lisa listens a little more.

Tanya Leshkin says, "Well. thanks for listening. Here's my PDA# if you find out anything."

Jelani nods and jots it down, "Here's mine. Contact me if you think I can be of any help to you."

Tanya Leshkin nods, takes her paper, pays for her coffee and walks out.
